As a child Marie was enchanted with the charm bracelets and earrings her mother wore. Baking clay jewelry was, for her, a delightful pastime. Later on, a visit to a bead shop revealed the intrinsic beauty of beads and stones, bringing about her decision to learn to bead. While taking a beginner’s class in metalsmithing at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Marie learned the techniques of soldering and making bezel settings. She pursued her craft, taking classes at the 92nd Street Y and with celebrated goldsmith Vicki Eisenfeld, whose beautiful wire weaving work further inspired Marie.
Marie sought training and inspiration wherever she could, eventually acquiring the technical skill to successfully turn her artistic vision into unique jewelry designs. Still captivated by coils of wire and sheets of metal and always thrilled to work with new stones, Marie aims always to tell a short story in each of her designs.
